Stewart Richard Kumfert

Stewart Richard “Rich” Kumfert, 74, passed away peacefully after a long illness, in the presence of his loving wife, Linda, on September 30, 2021, at the Heritage Hospice, Marietta, GA.

He was born on December 10, 1946 in Orange, NJ, the son of Stewart Frederick and Wanda Elizabeth Kumfert. Rich grew up in Union, NJ and graduated from Union High School in 1965. Following graduation, he attended Union County Technical Institute to become a certified tool and die maker. He worked at S & S Manufacturing in Springfield, NJ before becoming an employee at General Motors, Linden Plant, where he spent the remainder of his 30 year career until retiring in 2001. He married his beloved wife, Linda, in 1973 and settled in Manalapan, NJ, where they lived and raised their family until relocating to Georgia in 2001. Rich was an avid outdoorsman and in his spare time enjoyed hunting, fishing, competitive sporting clays and boating. He was a member of the Free Masons and the Lions Club, and was an active board member of the MCH Homeowner’s association for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Kumfert, his daughter, Daniele Deneka, his son Jonathan Kumfert and a grandson, Christian Deneka. Also surviving are his sisters, Carole Schlotter and Joyce Rowe and her husband, James, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Rich was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be fondly remembered for his willingness to help others, his love of life and his quick wit and dry sense of humor.
