Donna Smith Doss, loving wife, mother, sister and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 29, 2022, after a brief illness. Donna was born on September 19, 1948, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late Hoyt Thomas and Corrie Belle Hollingsworth Smith.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, David Emory Doss, and two daughters, Andrea Bowen (Chris) Landwehr and Donna Michelle Peele (Gary) Shelor. She has two grandsons, Christian (wife Sara) Kutas and Chase Peele, and one granddaughter, Marissa Peele, along with one great grandson, Hampton Kutas. She is predeceased by her brother, Edward Smith, and survived by one sister, Cherie Smith Higgins (George) and two nephews and one niece.
Donna was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Cumming, Georgia. She was gifted with a beautiful voice and was a member of the church choir. It was her desire for everyone to come hear the choir at any event so they would all experience the beauty of God’s gifts! She made many wonderful friends as a member of the choir and also the Cathy Jolly Circle.
Donna will be remembered for her tireless devotion to helping and serving others while serving the Lord. She was a beautiful person who loved to spread joy and happiness wherever she went. One of her great passions was volunteering at Country Gardens Lanier Personal Care Home where she spent time doing crafts with the residents, hosting movie afternoons, and assisting with group outings. She left us too soon, and in her words, “she had much more work to still do!”
A private service will be held at a later date for her immediate family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Cathy Jolly Circle, c/o First Baptist Church, 1597 Sawnee Dr, Cumming, Georgia.
